Needed materials
- Multimeter with a continuity tester.
Test procedure
1. You will need the tap adapter, without any installation cable connected, and a multimeter in the continuity test mode. If the tap adapter is still installed, the first step is to uninstall it and disconnect all the cables.
2. Measure the continuity between the adapter casing and the principal pin, like in the images below. In this condition, it is not supposed to have any continuity.
3. Measure the continuity between the socket pin 1 and the ground, keeping it attached to the whole device. In this condition, it is not supposed to have any continuity.
4. Measure the continuity between the socket pin 2 with the ground, and repeat the same step using pin 3 with the ground as the reference. In this condition, must have continuity.
5. Measure the continuity between socket pin '1' and the tap adapter main pin. In this condition, must have continuity.
6. Measure the continuity between the socket pin '1' and the tap adapter casing. In this condition, it is not supposed to have any continuity.
7. Measure the continuity between the socket ground and the tap adapter leading pin. In this condition, it is not supposed to have any continuity.
8. Now, finishing the process, measure the continuity between the socket ground and the tap adapter casing. In this condition, must have continuity.
Acceptance criteria
The tap adapter will be in good operating condition if the results of all the measures above must be as expected. If it has any divergence in one, or more steps, we do not recommend installing the tap adapter.
