Resolution of issues not related to the LAP self-diagnosis

If you encounter difficulties or problems in the LAP operation that are not related to any self-diagnostic situation, we suggest checking the possible causes and simple solutions presented below. If this information is not sufficient to resolve the difficulty, please contact Treetech's customer service or your authorized representative.

The LAP does not communicate with the data acquisition system

Probable causesRecommended actions

Incorrect programming of serial communication parameters in the LAP.

Verify the correct programming of the following parameters in the CONF submenu:

  • Baud-rate – parameter BDR;
  • Address – parameter ADDR;
  • Protocol – parameter PROT.

Poor contact, disconnection, or inversion in one of the serial communication cables.

Check for poor contacts, disconnections, or inversions along the entire communication cable path, including the connection to the LAP, terminal blocks, and the data acquisition system.

Use of unshielded cable, shielding without grounding, or incorrect grounding in the connection from the data acquisition system to the LAP.

Use shielded twisted pair communication cable, keeping the mesh uninterrupted along the entire path and grounding only at one end of the cable.

Incorrect type of cable used.

The communication cable must be of the shielded twisted pair type.

Distance between ends of the communication network exceeding 1200 meters.

If the circuit exceeds a distance of 1200 meters, the use of repeater modules or the application of optical fiber is necessary.

The LAP does not activate forced cooling correctly

Probable causesRecommended actions

Incorrect programming of forced cooling control parameters.

Correct the programming of the forced cooling control parameters.

Incorrect indication of the current loop output (mA)

Probable causesRecommended actions

Exceeded the maximum allowed load for the current output.

Check the maximum allowed load for each selected output standard.

Incorrect programming of current output parameters.

Check the programming of the parameters AORG (mA Output Range), BSCA (Scale Start), FSCA (Scale End), and ANIN (Analog Variable).

Incorrect connection of the mA output cable.

Check the correct connection of cables and terminal blocks (polarity, possible short circuits, open links) between the LAP and the mA output measurement system.

Lack of shielding grounding, interrupted shielding, or cable with shielding grounded at both ends of the circuit.

Grounding failure or incorrect grounding may allow induced noise and transients to hinder current loop measurement. Proceed to check the cable and connections (terminal blocks) and grounding.
