The GMP should be installed in a location with the best oil flow and the lowest temperature, avoiding areas with stagnant oil or low flux. Installing the device in erroneous places can prejudice the sensor reading, and the high temperature injures the equipment. At most power transformers, the recommended places for GMP installation are:
Local | Pros | Cons | Classification |
---|---|---|---|
Radiator's return valve | Great oil flux and low temperatures | The temperature could decrease below 40ºC, which could cause a mesurement error | Great |
Oil sampling valves | Good oil flux and low temperature | It is necessary to change the valve for another one with two exists, to sampling the oil | Good |
Radiator's entrance valve | Great oil flux | High temperature | Regular |
Drain valve | Low temperature | Low oil flux | Regular |
⚠ We do not recommend installing the GMP at the power transformer top cover because the oil temperature could overpass the device operating temperature.
