About AVR

The Automatic voltage regulator - AVR is a device built to regulate load voltage in order to keep it within a specific range of values obtained through parameters programmed by the user. It measures the transformer output voltage and load current.

The main goal is:

  • To keep the system voltage at a pre-established level,
  • To compensate the line voltage drop,
  • To protect the on-load tap changer (OLTC) against over-voltages and over-currents (depending on the option)
  • And also to measure the OLTC position and control it.
