 The process to download LOG according to the instructions in this manual follow some required criteria described in Process 1 - Checking Requirements.

If your equipment does not fit these conditions, please contact Treetech so we can help you.

Process 1 - Checking the Requirements

Step 1 - Verify that your equipment's firmware version is greater than 1.23.

How to Check:

By pressing the P + ↵ button on the front of the equipment, the display will show information about the version of the equipment. Verify that the version number is greater than 1.23.

Step 2 - Verify that the equipment has the optional MMEM (Mass Memory).

How to Check:

Press P + ↵ to access the product information submenu. Then navigate with the ↑ and ↓ buttons through the menu to the options screen.

Press the ↵ key to access the list of enabled options, then navigate with the ↑ and ↓ buttons to check if the MMEM option is active.

Step 3 - Verify that the communication protocol is as Modbus.

How to Check:

Press and hold the P key for 5 seconds until you access the following screen:

Use the ↑ and ↓ keys to enter the password to access the parameterization menu, then press ↵ to enter the menu. (For initial value = 4210, the default password is "0").

Navigate to the "CONF" menu and press the ↵ key.

Then check whether the protocol is Modbus, otherwise change to Modbus with ↓ then ↵.

Step 4 - RS-485 to USB converter

You must have an RS-485 to USB converter.

Process 2 - Downloading the software

The download file is available at the bottom of the page.

Process 3 - Establishing serial communication

Step 1 - Making the physical communication connection

Connect terminals 15(-) and 16(+) on the RS-485 > Serial converter connected to the computer.

ℹ️ The IDM must be powered externally.

Step 2 - Check the connection and communication port

Open Windows device manager:

Check the port corresponding to the converter.

Process 4 - Configuring the communication

Step 1 - Define time out and number of retries.

The Time Out is the maximum value of time that the software will wait for a response in communication with the equipment. This value must be entered considering the time in milliseconds.

The field Attempts refers to the maximum number of times the system will try to establish communication with the IDM. When the time-out time is exceeded in all X attempts, the software will accuse of communication failure.

Step 2 - Verify settings on the IED

Press and hold the P key for 5 seconds until you reach the following screen:

Use the ↑ and ↓ keys to enter the password to access the parameterization menu, then press ↵ to enter the menu. (For initial value = 4210, the default password is "0").

Navigate to the "CONF" menu and press the ↵ key.

Change between the settings using the ↵ key, check and note the address and BaudRate values.

Step 3 - Putting information into the software

  • Select BaudRate according to the BDR value on the IED;
  • Insert COM port as the value seen in step 2 of process 3;
  • Insert address as the END value in the IED;
  • Then click the Connect button.

ℹ️ The screen should show the connection status with the version and the serial number of the IED if the communication is successful.

Process 5 - Selecting Memory Range and Exporting Data.

Step 1 - Choose between the memory range options that you want to export:

  • Entire, last unit, or defined range.

ℹ️ The number of LOGs will depend on the interval between recordings (parameter TLG) and the IDM run time. It can range from 1 to 10380.

Step 2 - Select the folder where you want to save the log file.

Step 3 - Click on Generate LOG File and wait for the records to be read.

When the reading is finished the file will already be saved in the chosen directory.
